My betta has a white ring around his eye and over his nose. What is it and what should i do?!?!?!?

Question:

The white stuff is in a half moon formation. I started out little then went away. Then when we went on vacation I left him at my friends house she has a male betta, too but they weren't in th esame tank. When I got home it was back and it had spread. Then it went away. Now its back. now it stands out more and you can see it a couple feet way.

might be ick which fish get do to water conditions, use a water conditioner to clean the water.

This happened to my beta a few years ago. I tried putting some beta medicine in the water to help it but he died a few days later. Sorry.
